Claude Code memory starter
New: use the browser-only Agent Handoff Generator.
Copy the Context Rot Checklist before stale context becomes policy.
Copy the Agent Stuck-Loop Checklist before a third blind repair patch.
Also copy the /clear checkpoint ritual.
Behavioral doc firebreak for autonomous agents.
A small, boring workflow for people whose agent keeps forgetting context. Not magic memory. A filing cabinet Claude can read.
Download the markdown template
Also copy the Context Handoff Closeout for `/clear` + fresh-session handoffs.
Use this when
- Claude keeps asking what your project is.
- Compaction loses decisions.
- Your CLAUDE.md turned into a junk drawer.
- You want something useful before installing another memory plugin.
Minimum viable setup
project/
├── CLAUDE.md
└── docs/
├── session-log.md
└── decisions.mdThe habit matters more than the tooling: close the session by saving distilled state, not raw transcript sludge.
Session closer prompt
Before we stop, write a compact session closeout. Update CLAUDE.md only if a durable project instruction changed. Append docs/session-log.md with what changed, decisions, verification, and open threads. Append docs/decisions.md only for decisions that will still matter in a month. Do not dump the transcript. Save distilled state only.
Paid pack
If the starter helps and you want the full operating layer, the Claude Code Operator Pack adds the 4-layer architecture, course material, skills, and Codex track.
